GORDON LIDGARD

 

Born 1962

Some earliest memories are of working as a child in his father’s pottery studio making crackle pots and small bottles.

1983 - 1984 Started potting full time at 'The Potters' Arms' in Mt Eden, Auckland with Peter Lange and Lex Dawson. 'The Potters' Arms' was a cultural, social and political meeting place, Peter and Lex being great teachers.
After this time Gordon has made pottery part time while working on other business ventures.

Since 2005 he is living in Japan making Raku ware, mainly thrown pieces using a Shimpo Whisper T wheel. Some work is coiled or slip cast Raku with a wood smoke finish.

Albert Verschuuren was born in the Netherlands and completed his training in studio ceramics in Canada.


Since 1978 he and his partner Marie-Therese have lived near Stanthorpe in South-east Queensland, where Albert developed his interest in firing with wood and using local materials for clay bodies and glazes.


He holds a graduate diploma in visual arts and a master of arts degree, conducted numerous workshops and has taught studio ceramics courses at TAFE colleges in Ipswich, Stanthorpe and Tenterfield.
